ANPA Updates for Members
Posted about 4 years ago by ANPA Admin
ANPA has been busy over the past several months working for you, our members. Rather than send multiple emails over the next several days, the following is a brief overview. If you joined us on Saturday at our Business meeting during the Virtual conference, then most of this was discussed.
ELECTION RESULTS
First, we had a great slate of candidates and voter turnout for our annual election. The following are our election results:
- President-Elect: Karen Reynolds from Springdale
- Treasurer-Elect: Sara Damron from Conway
- District 2 Representative: Brenda Jacobs from Monticello
- District 4 Representative: Tanya Golden from El Dorado
- Member At Large:
- Steffany Benton from Brinkley
- Jennifer Shuler from Little Rock
- Monique Thammavong from Van Buren
- Braxton Yeager from Fayetteville
- Student Representative: Emily Qualls from Greenwood
As you see, we have 4 new Member At Large even though you voted for 3. With Karen’s succession to the President-Elect position, it left a vacancy. So, the top 4 votes were accepted by the Board of Directors.
Our Bylaws passed, so they will be uploaded to the website.
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
We hired Capitol Advisors Group for Legislative Advocacy (lobbying). During 2021 Legislative Session, ANPA is running a bill for Full Practice Authority. Members of Capitol Advisors Group are Bill Vickery, Mitchell Lowe, John Burris, and Nicole Gillum. We are excited to have them lead us in our legislative agenda. They will help us “keep an eye” on legislation important to Nurse Practitioner Practice in Arkansas.
CONFERENCE UPDATE
Our Virtual Conference was this past Saturday (despite some technical difficulties), we were able to provide education on a safe platform for social distancing and networking. There were requests for access to the live sessions and prerecorded session, so we opened opportunity to those who missed it live on our website. Don’t miss the deadline for completing tests to claim CEs is August 28!
Our merchandising team created great T-shirts and masks for our members. These are available on our website for purchase (just click on “register and learn more”) to shop away!!
Eli Lilly is sponsoring a statewide Virtual “Dinner Meeting” on September 15. Be on the look out for more information in the next few weeks
