In Loving Memory of Dr. Loretta Ford

Posted 6 days ago in Member Updates

Dr. Loretta Ford, a true pioneer and founder of the nurse practitioner profession passed away at the age of 104.  She left an indelible mark on healthcare and inspired countless professionals with her vision and dedication. We were incredibly honored when Dr. Ford, wearing her superhero cape, spoke at our conference when we were just starting out. Her words about the importance of advocating for your profession resonated deeply with all of us. She valued the profession so much that she took the time to be with us during those early days, and we will never forget her support and encouragement.

Dr. Ford's legacy will continue to guide and inspire us as we strive to improve patient care and outcomes. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. ANPA President, Leonie DeClerk, shared, “ I have been honored to meet Dr. Ford on several occasions. Most recently at AANP in June 2024.   She was an amazing visionary who saw the potential nurses had to provide access to healthcare. She didn’t ask permission but pushed forward to overcome barriers to meet societal needs.
Thank you Dr. Ford for being the Co-Founder of our profession. “

We are excited to share the opportunity for Arkansas NPs to celebrate Dr. Ford's legacy by contributing to her memorial scholarship. As little as $25 provides you the gift of knowing you were a part of this scholarship! We are off to a strong start and appreciate the support we've received already.  All donations are tax deductible.  Follow this link to make your gift today arcf.org/anpaford
