Nurses Week Ask the Board of Nursing: Sample medication dispensing

 Happy Nirses Week2025! 

A previous question asked if APRNs can dispense medications, the answer being “no”. How does this apply to sample medications? Is there a rule or document that we can point to for employers that specifically states sample medications can be handed out by APRNs?

Refer to the ASBN Rules 17 CAR 123-606 related to drug samples from pharmaceutical companies.
