I have a certificate of full independent practice and practice in a city bordering another state. When managing chronic pain, can the patient be evaluated by a physician in the neighboring state every 6 months, or does the physician have to be practicing in Arkansas?
The ASBN Rules 17 CAR 123-1103 (a)(2) requires that the patient shall be evaluated through an in-person examination at least one (1) time every six (6) months by a physician who is licensed by the Arkansas State Medical Board. As long as the physician hold an Arkansas medical license, it would fit the requirement no matter where the physician is currently practicing.
