NP Business Owner Spotlight: Rachel Scrimshire, APRN

Posted about 3 hours ago in Membership

We’re thrilled to recognize our January NP Business Owner SpotlightRachel Scrimshire.  She is the owner of a Family practice clinic in Malvern named Brick City Health and Wellness Clinic. She is celebrating her two year business anniversary this month! She says "We wanted patient focus care vs just focusing on numbers as our previous employer did. We were approached by a local pharmacy after they added on to their building and asked if we wanted to open a clinic. I felt it was God telling me it was time to venture on my own."  Rachel, thank you for being such a valued part of our community and your support of ANPA. Take a moment to read her interview responses and get to know her better!

What is your background and how did you develop your skill set?
I started as a LPN in a family practice clinic while going back to RN school. After graduation, I worked in a cath lab, interventional radiology and did PICC lines. I also worked part time at Children’s in their radiology department. I then went to NP school where my first job was in women’s health. I feel my diverse background really helped serve my patients in many areas of their needs.

What is your biggest success to date?
Seeing my name on the front door of our business. This gives me so much pride. But most of all seeing reviews of patients stating how much I’ve helped them in their lives.

What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been putting all my faith in the clinic we opened. I had no idea how it would go and if we would be successful. Leaving a steady paycheck to a complete unknown is terrifying.

What inspires you to hit the ground running each morning?
My children!  In March of 2020, my husband was the officer in Hot Springs who was killed in the line of duty. I want to show my kids even after tragedy we can reach our goals and succeed in what we put our mind to. I want them to look back and see what their mom did even after everything that happened. I want to make them proud

What’s an interesting fact about your business that most people don’t know?
We do a little bit of everything. We do chronic care, women’s health, pediatrics, hormone therapy, vitamin injections, weight loss, and wound care

When you’re not working, what is your favorite thing to do?
Hanging out with my family either in the woods or on the river

Congratulations, Rachel!
