Dear colleagues,

We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to each and every one of you for your tireless support of HB 1160. It is with honor that we thank Representatives Hammer and Gonzales for their support of us as nurse practitioners and their sponsorship of this bill. Despite all our best efforts and the support in the House of Representatives, HB 1160 did not make it out of the Senate Public Health, Welfare, and Labor Committee.

As nurse practitioners, we need to continue our efforts to stand firm in our beliefs and convictions in our fight to continue the advancement of nurse practitioners as we provide health care to the residents of Arkansas. We have a proven track record of success in patient management, prescribing, etc. A majority of states have endorsed nurse practitioners performing to their full scope of practice, education, and certification. Arkansas will join that list as we continue to move forward, together, collectively, and purposefully. We will, one day, have consensus across the state of Arkansas.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and nurses across the state stood up for our profession, in unity, this legislative session. We must now look forward to the continued development and growth of good, working relationships with our elected officials. It is critical, and imperative, that we follow up and thank our Representatives, Senators, physicians, and all others for their support, and continued support, of our efforts as we strive to improve the health care of all Arkansans.
